Sundance Square in Fort Worth, Texas, is renowned for its bustling atmosphere, rich history, and a wide array of opportunities for capturing memorable family moments. I had the pleasure of joining the Friedrichsen Family for a photo session in the heart of this lively downtown area.

Donny is the head pastor at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Southlake, TX. His better half, Kim, is a full-time homeschooling mom/entrepreneur who will be your biggest cheerleader if you need encouragement and advice for homeschooling your own kids. Follow her on Instagram…you’ll be so glad you did! Their family session was combined with their son’s senior session. Kim booked me for more time that day and it worked out perfectly. The Friedrichsen kiddos are actively involved in theater, football, and speech & debate, and it’s always so much fun to hear what they’re up to. They were so excited to participate in the session! They were not shy about posing and giving me their brightest smiles.

Kim was amazing at coordinating their outfits. They complemented the rich colors of Sundance Square, which really helped us create a cohesive gallery. I love photographing here, but it does have its challenges. The hustle and bustle of city life is always present, and traffic can be a distraction. But, we were determined to make the most of the location.

One of the highlights of the session was capturing a perfect "crossing the street" photo. We patiently waited for just the right moment, ensuring the safety of everyone involved while capturing a candid shot like this.

In addition to capturing the bond of the family, I also took individual portraits of everyone. I know how quickly kids grow and change, and updated portraits are definitely on my list of “must have images” during every family session. Additionally, Kim, being very active on social media where she shares her passion for homeschooling as well as running a small business, had expressed an interest in having some images for those social media posts. Her fun-loving personality was a breeze to snap in only a few quick minutes.

We made sure to capture plenty of moving poses and dynamic shots that she can use in a myriad of ways not only on Instagram, Tik-Tok, or Facebook, but also on her website and blog. This time allowed us to focus on her as an individual, which is something every mom deserves from time to time. In today’s digital world, using professional portraits, even candid and fun ones, is a must!

In the end, my session with the Friedrichsen family in Sundance Square was a huge success! We accomplished so much within our photo session time limit, and I’m so pleased with how the gallery turned out. Sundance Square provided the perfect backdrop for a family photo session filled with energy, love, and laughter, and I’m so glad that they chose me as their photographer!

The Friedrichsen family's passion for life, their active involvement in their community and church, and their genuine connection with one another made this session truly special. It was a pleasure and an honor to be their photographer, and I look forward to more opportunities to capture their beautiful moments in the future.
